20/400 PA (Pop Action)
The SV 20/400 PA safety valve test bench from the METRUS SV series is designed for testing and adjustment of safety valves up to DN 400 (16”). It is suitable for pressure setting, seat leakage testing, and functional verification after repair.
Realistic simulation of safety valve opening behaviour requires high gas volumes and controlled flow conditions. The PA system is equipped with a 20-liter gas reservoir and a 2” flow line to the test specimen, enabling realistic pressure relief conditions and high flow energy.
When the set pressure is reached, the valve opens abruptly (“pop effect”) and releases pressure at high speed. The system ensures controlled pressure decay, allowing the valve disc to reseat smoothly on a gas cushion while reducing mechanical stress on the valve seat.
Testing can be performed with compressed air or nitrogen up to 300 bar. Pressure regulation is controlled via METRUS precision needle valves, ensuring stable and repeatable testing conditions.
As part of the METRUS safety valve test bench series, this system is designed for dynamic testing and high-precision functional analysis in industrial applications.
For more compact safety valves up to DN 200, the SV 20/200 PA is also available within the same platform.
