Adapted high pressure water pump

Tayloring to your needs

Every METRUS standard test bench is fitted with stainless steel high pressure tubing for a maximum working pressure up to 600 bar. However, the high pressure water pump must not necessarily have a maximum pressure of 600 bar to generate the water pre pressure supplied to the control needle valve.

METRUS uses pneumatic driven liquid pumps to create high water pressure. Depending on the pumps transformation ratio supply pressure (workshop air 0 to 6 bar) is transformed into high water pressure. E.g. a pump with a transformation ration of 1:100 will create 100 bar water pressure when being supplied with 1 bar air pressure. Manually controlling the supply air via a pressure controller unit, the operator adjusts the maximum water pre pressure suitable for his testing purpose.

No matter if your chosen pump might have a transformation ration of 1:100 or only 1:40, the adjustment of the maximum value is made controlling the 0 to 6 bar workshop air. Consequently a lower transformation ration leads to a more precise adjustment of the water pre pressure.

If you know that today’s testing needs will not require more than e.g. 200 bar maximum pressure we would recommend a pump with a transformation rate of 1:40. It would deliver 240 bar of high water pressure at a supply air pressure of 6 bar (6 x 40 = 240 bar). Your benefit would be a smarter, more precise control of the maximum water pre pressure.

And in case future changes would demand a higher water pressure all you need to do is replace the pump. All other components of the pressure system remain unchanged as it is designed for up to 600 bar already. An adapted high water pressure pump may be chosen at no extra costs.
